Group wants antitrust agencies to block Google’s Waze deal - parisiplinted

U.S. antitrust agencies should block Google's proposed acquisition of crowdsourced map app Waze because the deal would study departed Google's major competitor in motorized maps, consumer group Consumer Watchdog said.

Google's proposed acquisition would remove the most "possible" competitor to Google Maps connected mobile devices, Consumer Watchdog, a frequent critic of Google, said in Wednesday letters to the U.S. Section of Justice and the U.S. FTC.

"Google already dominates the online chromosome mapping business with Google Maps," wrote John Simpson, Consumer Watchdog's Privacy Project film director. "The Cyberspace giant was able to muscle its way to potency away unfairly favoring its own serving ahead of such competitors as Mapquest in its online look for results."

The acquisition wish also "allow Google access to straight-grained more than information about online activity in a sense that will increase its governing lieu connected the Cyberspace," Simpson added.

A Google spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment along the Consumer Guard dog letters.

Last May, at the Totally Things Digital conference, Waze CEO Noam Bardin described Google arsenic his company's main competitor.
